Stone washor literally, in Slovak, stone washing is a special surface treatment process. It is used when you want to make a new product look as if it were worn, faded, matte.
How it works:
It works by placing the product you want to enhance into large industrial washing machines. For textile items, larger stones are added, while for smaller items, such as knives, small pebbles are added. As the drum of the washing machine rotates, the stones rub and rub against the product, and the impact created produces an effect of abrasion and fading. This stone washing also helps increase the softness and flexibility of fabrics, such as denim.
Outside of clothing, this process is also used on knife blades, specifically in their treatment. For these types, it is used to make the surface of the item appear matte, hide any dents or scratches, and eliminate reflections that should not be there. This can be observed on survival or tactical knives. Stone wash is also used on all metal parts, such as metal belt buckles or backpack buckles.
