Premium Fenix 18650 3500 mAh rechargeable battery (ARB-L18-3500) with electronic protection (protected) is based on premium NCR18650GA cells from Panasonic / Sanyo with enhanced LiNiCoO2 technology, which delivers higher safety and longer lifespan. Li-ion rechargeable batteries are characterised by very high capacity, suffer no memory effect and have no self-discharge. Li-ion in 18650 size are the best choice in terms of stored energy relative to battery dimensions and weight.

Fenix battery protection consists of internal safety mechanisms and protective electronics. Added electronic circuits prevent overcharging of the cell, excessive discharge and protect against short circuit or excessively high current draw. If the battery electronics detect that limit values have been reached, they safely disconnect the cell.

Internal protection consists of a separator, the most advanced heat resistance protection (HRL - Heat Resistance Layer) and a special anti-explosion vent. In the event that gas pressure in the cell exceeds a certain threshold, the internal separator isolates the electrodes inside the battery and thereby effectively interrupts the exothermic reaction, and the anti-explosion vent releases excess gas pressure from the battery. Thanks to the combination of electronic and mechanical (thermal and pressure) protection, Fenix batteries rank among the safest available li-ion rechargeable batteries.

In size, the 18650 battery corresponds to approximately two CR123A lithium batteries, which is why it is often used in torches as a rechargeable alternative to these primary cells. Check first whether your device supports this cell.
